Joy Justice
Celebrants
Hi, I’m Joy, and I’m a Heart Led Celebrant based in Nottinghamshire but working across the East Midlands and Yorkshire. I approach my work with creativity, integrity and curiosity.
The ceremonies I’m most drawn to are the ones that don’t cost the earth, because everybody you love has come with their heart and gifted their time and their favourite dessert or song for the playlist. Where you have begged and borrowed and made things, and together co-created something intensely beautiful and meaningful. I can work with you to craft your own ritual materials such as handfasting cords or a besom (broom) for jumping the besom.
I also love the simple, and the intimate ceremonies with only a handful of guests or no guests at all. What matters is that the ceremony I craft for you is perfectly fitting and that I’ve listened and taken your cues throughout.
I am happy to work outdoors, wherever is meaningful or practical for you to hold your ceremony- in a forest, on a campsite, by a river, on a farm, in a tent, or in your own home or garden!
As well as being a celebrant, I’m a mediator and facilitator. I hold space for individuals, couples and groups to be deeply listened to, encouraged, and supported to work through challenges with bravery and honesty. Listening is my superpower, and I lean in with curiosity, gentleness and respect.
I bring these qualities into my celebrant work too- I recognise that as well as all the joy and shininess, ceremonies can be nerve-racking and bewildering rites of passage to go through! The process of designing and organising them sometimes brings up internal dilemmas, stuck-ness and differences to reconcile. When this happens, I will support you to move through this and find your peace.
I live in an intentional community with my partner and child, and spend much of my free time growing food, taking care of ducks, practising permaculture and doing creative projects.
